ARF Scratching Post!

Welcome to ARF, where every stride is an adventure! ARF is a Singaporean guild of Guild Wars players that originated as a group of budding polytechnic and army pals. Whether you love Guild Wars for its PvE content, the competitive PvP arenas or simply just farming for titles and resources, we hope you find your place in our little guild!

We're mostly a bunch of insane, socially deprived people. RAWR.

[ ARF ] - Nightfall Launch Party

Venue: Orchard Cineleisure, Level 9, E2Max
Date: 4 November 2006
Time: 7pm - 11pm
ARFies Present: Altus, Feral, Leo Zero, Neph, Selia and Snares

This is an event kindly sponsered and brought to everyone by the generous people at P2P, the Singapore and Brunei distributor of Guild Wars. P2P was extremely generous with the door gifts - each bag had about 2 sets of GW, Factions, City of Heroes, City of Villians posters, stickers, bookmarks, balloons, badges and free game and gadget magazines. Each bag also sported exclusive GW polo tees.

ARF was there simply to have fun, check things out and essentially collect the prizes Feral, Neph and myself won for the Nightfall Scrolls Contest - an event held on the local Guild Wars Singapore forum. Leo Zero volunteered to be one of the marshalls there to oversee the mini GW tournament held at party, ensure that the matches were played fairly and basically watch us in combat. Altus was eager about joining the mini tournament and succeeded into coaxing Neph and the rest of us to partake the challenge, not to mention that Altus went one on one with the MC for some prizes and skill pins! (Those local history questions were tough!)

Leo Zero had to arrive at the scene extra early, being part of the judges team. The rest of us met up first at the Xin Wang Hong Kong Cuisine restaurant. We had our meals and drinks, conversed and set off to our destination thereoff.

Personally this would be my second meetup with Altus, and the first time I met Leo Zero in person. (I still don't know how he managed to complete Nightfall so fast, even before the launch event started...) We signed ourselves for the tournament thanks to Altus' enthusiasm, and the fact that we were already there, with nothing else planned for the weekend. We could see Rendyk, one of the organisers, moderator on the SG forum and part of the SG Alliance, running about ensuring that things were going in order - a very busy man.

We were hanging around when the MC finally arrived and kick-started the Launch Party, firstly with the Scrolls Contest prize presentation, not before stuffing the mic into me, asking my opinions of Nightfall. Given my already very deep bellowing voice, I was barely audible and sounded like a Charr with a bad cold. Feral, Neph and myself posed together with two other members from the SG Alliance for the prize receiving, and we got our free copies of Nightfall! Neph traded the Collector's Edition with Feral, while he took the Standard key, and as promised if we won, we'd give another to Selia so that (he) could continue his journey to Elona. Everything went well and the sponsors have been really generous with the prizes. One of items was a T-Shirt with Abbadon's face on it, lol.

We soon found ourselves geared up for the tournament - it was amazing, as we got to play for hours at E2Max - FREE! We were assigned as Team 4, and our first match was a breeze - being the Ritualist and only healer, I hardly flinched and didn't need to worry about any sudden health drops. Soon after, people found out about our team build. We had ZERO PvP training prior to this event, and ARF was unable to adapt quickly to situation. Admidst my own disorientation, I was unable to rally up the team to swtich builds. Selia provided insight, suggesting that since we don't have a proper healer, we might as well go all-out damage which turned out to be a good idea, but a little too late. The other teams used very potent damage spike builds, and using the new Nightfall Elementalist Elite - Searing Flames.

Altus, Feral, and Neph fought bravely, using our last resort "Shinigami Build". The last match was perhaps the best match, as we and the opposing team's chance of victory went up and down, a fierce match of chance. Eventually, we lost from the overwhelming degen caused by the enemy Mesmer and Necro.

We may have lost the battle, but all things considered, we had a great time at the Launch Party. It was great to meet up as a guild and have some outside activities together, not to mention bring home bags of free loot and rare items!
